Leo Club of Canonssian Convent, Paduka Tuan, Seg Hwa and Sekolah Tinggi Segamat had their 17th Joint Installation at Restaurant Seong Hai on the 7th of August. The Theme for the Installation was ‘The Joy of Chasing Fireflies’. It was very well organized, Leos from Johor, Pahang, Melaka and Kuala Lumpur were there to support the memorable occasion; Interactors, members of various school societies, Lions, Lioness and teacher advisors were invited, packing the dinning hall with more then 800 participants.

 The Presiding Officer was President Lim Peng Keong, Guest of Honor, Zone 17 Chairperson Ang Chee Siong, Installation Officer was District Chairperson for Youth Program Region 7 Tee Piaw Tian and Initiation Officer was Leo Advisor Low Chye Tee.

Program officially started with the National Anthem, Leo Pledge and launching the theme ‘The Joy of Chasing Fireflies’ by the Guest of Honor and the Lions present accompanied by Leo Presidents of the 4 Clubs.

 After welcome address by Leo Lee Ho Wai and Justina Tey, Lion President Lim presented his speech, stressing the advantages of being a Leo and hope more students would join the program to upgrade their leadership and communication skills, helping the less fortunate through community work.

 Guest of Honor, Zone 17 Chairperson Ang Chee Siong was invited on stage to deliver his speech followed by Initiation of new members by Lion Low Chye Tee and Installation of President and Board of Directors by District Chairperson for Youth Program Region 7, Tee Piaw Tian. The meeting was adjourned after presentation of mementos to guest.

 Buffet dinner commences with Lucky Draw and performances by Leos. They were also a fashion show ‘Glamorous Gown’ where the top three were awarded prizes. This Installation was very successful, in terms of organization, cooperation and participation.

On 8th August 2010 Leos From Lions Club Of Segamat repainted and repair the passengers shelter at the Segamat Railway station

This shelter was sponsored by the Lioness of  District 308 B1 in conjunction of the Lioness Forum held in Segamat in 2004. After so many years, the paintworks had peel and the wordings in the signboard were not noticeable. After consultation with the Lions & Lioness, they decided to repair it together. 

Leos Key Officers School

The Lions Club of Segamat conducted an Orientation and Key Officers School for her sponsored Leo Clubs at PBTC premises 0n the 31st. July. District Chairperson for Leadership Development, Region 7 was the Organizing Chairman and Leo Advisor Lion Lee, delegated the task as trainer.

 Participating Leos were from SK Canossian Convent, SK Paduka Tuan, SMK Seg Hwa and Sekolah Tinggi Segamat. Presiding Officer Lion Lim Peng Keong, Zone 17 Chairperson Lion Ang Chee Siong, Leo Advisor Lion Low Chye Tee and a few Lions were present.

 The Orientation starts with the respective Leo Presidents introducing themselves and their club’s brief history and her present membership. Formation of the first Leo Club and her assimilation into Lions International as a Youth Program were made known.

Leos are categorized as Alpha Leos, age 12-17 and Omega Leos age 18-30. Purposes of Leo Club, Leo Pledge, Leo Motto, Leo Advisor, Teacher Advisor, Protocol, Year Planner, Leo Projects and Activities, Opportunities, Responsibility and Leo Awards were brought to their attention.

 Duties and Responsibilities of President, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and Board members were presented. Submission of monthly report, separation of Administration and Project Fund, conduct meeting in organized manner with proper agenda and insist members to wear the Leo Pin at the lapel of their school uniform were explained. The session ended with Question and Answer.
